If you want Los Angeles aluminum fence quotes from a few companies, make Mulholland Brand one of your calls. Mulholland Brand is an aluminum gate and fence manufacturer in Canoga Park. It designs, fabricates and installs aluminum fences across Los Angeles County with its own W-2 crews, measures each property on site, and gives an itemized written price for the exact fence you want.
At a glance
- Get at least three written quotes: one bid alone gives you nothing to measure it against.
- Make every company quote the same fence: send one written scope so every bid covers the same height, style, footage and gates.
- Compare eight points before price: finish, posts and footings, style and privacy, matching gates, warranty coverage, who installs, on-site measurement and an itemized written price.
- Put Mulholland Brand on your list: we design, fabricate and install aluminum fences across Los Angeles County, from Malibu and Santa Monica to Pasadena and the San Fernando Valley.
- Book the on-site measurement: every Mulholland Brand quote follows one and comes as an itemized written price.
This guide is about comparing bids. For an overview of the fences themselves, read our Los Angeles aluminum fence installation guide.
Which Los Angeles companies install aluminum fences?
Three kinds of companies install aluminum fences in Los Angeles:
- Manufacturers build the fence and install it themselves.
- Installers buy stock panels from a supplier and fit them to your yard.
- General fence contractors offer aluminum alongside wood, vinyl and chain link.
Mulholland Brand is a manufacturer. We are a strong first call if you want a modern or custom aluminum fence, with matching gates, from one company.
Why put us on your shortlist
Here is what you can check before you call:
- Operating since 1994. Our California contractor license is CSLB #1061373.
- A Canoga Park base. Our factory and showroom are at 7959 Deering Ave, Canoga Park, CA 91304, in the San Fernando Valley. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Call (877) 616-2947 or (800) 562-5770.
- Built in our own shop. We design and manufacture our products in-house from powder-coated aluminum. Our fences and gates are cut, welded, powder-coated and finished at our Canoga Park facility.
- Our own installers. Our own W-2 employees install our fences, not subcontractors.
- Reviews. We average 4.5 stars across more than 850 Google and Yelp reviews, per our website in October 2026.
- See the finish first. You can see finishes at full size in our Canoga Park showroom before you choose.
We serve all of Los Angeles County, including Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Encino, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Altadena and Westlake Village. See our Los Angeles service area page and our full aluminum fencing range.
When another kind of company fits better
Calling the right company saves you time. We are not the right call in three cases:
- You want a real wood fence. We build wood-look aluminum, not real wood. If you are weighing the two, read aluminum fence vs. wood fence first.
- You only need a stock pool-code picket fence at the lowest price. A supplier of off-the-shelf panels will usually suit that job better. Check your pool barrier requirements with your city before you buy; California's baseline pool enclosure rules are in Health and Safety Code section 115923.
- You need repairs to a fence someone else built. We do not service fences or gates we did not build.
8 Things to Compare on Los Angeles Aluminum Fence Quotes
Two aluminum fence quotes can describe very different fences. Before you compare prices, check that every bid covers the same eight things. Each point below has a question to ask on the phone, and Mulholland Brand's answer to it.
1. The aluminum and the finish
The finish decides how a fence looks after years of Los Angeles sun, sprinklers and, near the coast, salt air. Ask what grade of aluminum each company uses, how the finish is applied, and whether that work is done in-house or sent out.
Ask: "What aluminum is the fence made from, and who applies the powder coat?"
Our answer: We use marine-grade aluminum with an electrostatic powder coat applied in our own powder coating facility. It is a corrosion-resistant finish that holds up to Southern California sun and salt air, whether your fence faces the ocean in Malibu or sits inland in Woodland Hills. Powder-coated aluminum does not rust like iron or steel, rot or warp, and it needs no repainting or staining. Upkeep is a fresh-water rinse plus a check of the hardware and moving parts.
2. Posts and footings
Panels get the attention, but posts and footings carry the fence. Each bid should say how many posts there are, how far apart they sit, and how they are set: in concrete footings, or mounted on an existing wall or retaining wall. If one quote is far lower than the others, look here first.
Ask: "How many posts are in this price, and how is each one set?"
Our answer: Our design consultant measures your terrain, slope and openings on site before we design the fence. Site work such as concrete is identified at that visit and shows up on your itemized quote.
3. Style and privacy level
A fence with open spacing and a solid privacy fence of the same height use very different amounts of material. Spell out the exact style and how much you want to see through it. Otherwise one company may quote a see-through fence while another quotes full privacy.
Ask: "Which profile is this, and how much can you see through it?"
Our answer: Our gates and fences come in these styles:
Finishes include 20+ powder-coat colors and wood-look options. Our wood-look aluminum comes in three wood-grain patterns: oak, walnut and cedar. Our laser-cut panels come in 39 catalog designs, or we can cut one from your own artwork as a one-off. For design detail, see custom laser-cut aluminum fence panels and San Fernando Valley wood-look aluminum fences.
4. Matching gates
Most front yards need a walk gate, and many need a driveway gate. If the gates are quoted later, or by a different company, they may not match the fence's profile, color or height. Ask for the walk gate and driveway gate in the same bid, in the same style and finish.
Ask: "Can you quote the walk gate and driveway gate in the same style and finish as the fence?"
Our answer: We design the driveway gate, walk gate and fence together as one front-yard package, matched in one finish. We build pedestrian walk and side gates and swinging or sliding driveway gates, manual or automated.
- Driveway gates: made from 6063-T5 aluminum, in slatted, solid privacy, glass, wood-look, laser-cut and spear-top picket styles.
- Automation: our automated swing gates use LiftMaster LA 400 or LA 500 operators, and our automated sliding gates use BFT operators.
- Power: we do not do electrical work, so power to an automated gate comes from your own electrician.
For design ideas, see modern privacy fences with matching gates.
5. What the warranty covers
A single headline word on a warranty tells you little. Read what is actually covered:
- Defects in manufacture
- Assembly
- Rust on the slats and posts
- The finish
- Hardware
- Labor
Then note how long each part lasts, and ask for the warranty in writing, attached to the quote. Compare what each warranty covers, not only how long it sounds.
Ask: "What exactly does the warranty cover, for how long, and can I have it in writing?"
Our answer: Our products come with a written warranty: one year for defects in manufacture or assembly, and three years against rust on the aluminum slats and posts. The full terms are on our warranties page.
6. Who does the install
Some companies sell the fence and send a subcontracted crew to install it. That puts a second business on your property, and you may need to check its license and workers' compensation status separately, which you can do on the Contractors State License Board's license lookup. And if a problem appears, the maker and the installer can each point at the other.
Ask: "Will your own employees install this fence, or a subcontractor?"
Our answer: Our own W-2 employees install our fences. The same company that fabricates your fence installs it, so one team answers for the whole job, and there is no separate subcontractor whose license and insurance you need to check.
7. Whether the price follows an on-site measurement
Los Angeles lots are rarely flat and square. A price given from a phone call or a satellite photo cannot account for:
- Slope and grade changes
- Retaining walls
- Drainage
- Gate swing clearance
On a hillside lot, ask how the fence will follow the grade. A stock panel trimmed to fit and a fence built for the slope are not the same product.
Ask: "Will someone measure the property before you give me a final price?"
Our answer: We custom-measure every property on site and custom-build to fit it. Our design consultant measures the opening, grade, swing clearance and drainage before giving you a written price. We can also fabricate to your architect's or builder's drawing.
8. Whether the price is itemized in writing
A single total cannot be compared with anything. An itemized quote lets you match each line against the other bids and spot anything missing:
- Fence footage
- Posts
- Each gate
- Hardware
- Automation
- Site work
- Removal of the old fence
These are also the things that move the price: height, length, profile, privacy level, the number and type of gates, automation, slope, site work and finish.
Ask: "Can I have an itemized written quote for this exact configuration?"
Our answer: Our quotes follow an on-site measurement and come as an itemized written price for the exact configuration. If you expect a manufacturer to cost more, the itemized quote shows you exactly what you are paying for, line by line.
Side-by-side checklist for your bids
Print this table, or copy it into a spreadsheet. Add one column per company, and only compare totals once every row matches.
| What to compare | What to ask | Mulholland Brand's answer |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum and finish | What metal, and who applies the powder coat? | Marine-grade aluminum, electrostatic powder coat applied in our own facility |
| Posts and footings | How many posts, and how are they set? | Measured on site; site work such as concrete identified and itemized |
| Style and privacy | Which profile, and how see-through? | Profile 24, Hi-Tech, Glass, Wood-Like, Iron Look, Laser-Cut, Solid, Fancy Fence; 20+ colors |
| Matching gates | Walk and driveway gate in the same bid and finish? | Fence, walk gate and driveway gate designed as one package in one finish |
| Warranty | What is covered, and for how long? | 1 year on manufacture or assembly; 3 years against rust on slats and posts |
| Installer | Own employees or subcontractor? | Our own W-2 employees |
| Measurement | Measured on site before pricing? | Yes, by our design consultant |
| Written price | Itemized for this configuration? | Yes, itemized and in writing |
Before you sign, check each company's license on the Contractors State License Board's public lookup. Ask each company who checks your city's fence height and permit rules, because those rules vary across Los Angeles County. In the City of Los Angeles, they come from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. Unincorporated areas follow county zoning rules from the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, and cities such as Pasadena, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills set their own, so check with your city's building department.
A quote request to send every company
Send the same written scope to every company. Each quote will then describe the same fence, and each measurement visit starts with the details already in hand. Copy this, fill it in, and send it with photos of the yard.

Frequently asked questions
Which Los Angeles companies install aluminum fences?
Manufacturers, panel installers and general fence contractors all install aluminum fences in Los Angeles. Mulholland Brand is a Canoga Park manufacturer: we design, fabricate and install aluminum fences across Los Angeles County with our own W-2 crews, and we give an itemized written quote after an on-site measurement.
How many quotes should I get?
Get at least three written Los Angeles aluminum fence quotes. Send every company the same scope, so the quotes describe the same fence and you can compare them line by line.
Is it better to buy from a manufacturer or an installer?
It depends on the fence. For a stock picket fence, an installer of off-the-shelf panels may be enough. For a custom, modern or privacy fence with matching gates, a manufacturer that builds and installs gives you one company responsible for both the product and the work, and a fence built for your lot rather than trimmed to fit it.
Can I get an aluminum fence and a matching driveway gate quoted together?
Yes. Ask for the fence, walk gate and driveway gate in one bid. Mulholland Brand designs all three together as one front-yard package in one finish, with the driveway gate manual or automated.
Does a sloped lot change the quote?
Usually, yes. Slope, retaining walls and grade changes affect post placement, panel shapes and site work. That is why a price should follow an on-site measurement of the terrain.
Will an aluminum fence rust?
Powder-coated aluminum does not rust like iron or steel. Mulholland Brand's written warranty covers rust on the aluminum slats and posts for three years.
